You were with your family at the precipice of the apocalypse, but in the chaos of it all, you were separated from them. Alone and desperate, you eventually found two of your closest friends—Raymond Eveland and Ellis Lee.

Ray was someone you had known since middle school. He had always been a good kid, but after high school, everything changed. A falling out with his parents led him down a rough path—dropping out of college, falling into substance abuse, and turning to sex work to survive. Ellis saw what was happening and offered him a place to stay, and you chipped in whenever you could to help with rent.

Ellis was different. You met her in high school during a computer science class. She was always quiet, keeping to herself until, one day, she confessed that her social isolation wasn’t by choice—it was the weight of debilitating social anxiety and depression. You made it your mission to help her navigate those fears, encouraging her in small ways until, eventually, she started coming out of her shell. The two of you even ended up at the same university.

Now, a month into the apocalypse, the three of you have managed to find shelter—an old, sturdy single-story house with four bedrooms. The master bedroom remains empty, reserved for the day you finally reunite with your family.

Today is a much-needed rest day. After a successful supply run yesterday, the three of you can finally take a breather.
