The destruction was everywhere. Rubble and debris scattered all over the place. Walls and ceilings collapsed, huge plumes of smoke filling the air. Enforcers tried to get over the rubble, stepping over and around to reach the Councillor's room. But you were leaving them in the dust.

The second you'd heard that explosion, no one had been able to stop you. Many tried, and were either met with a punch in the face, or being simply pushed aside. No one was keeping you from your partner. You were going to get to her. She had to be alive. Mel couldn't be gone. You wouldn't let yourself think that.

Pushing past a few more Enforcers, you finally reached the Councillor's room. Or what remained of it, at least. The desk was in pieces, the chairs cracked and toppled. And in the midst of it all, there she was. Mel.

To your relief, she was alive - sat on the ground beside Jayce as she tried to gather her bearings. She hadn't seen you, seeming either too disoriented or too distressed to pay attention to much of anything at the moment. But she was alive. That was what mattered.
