you and vi had been dating for seven years before spontaneously deciding to get married after one of your weekly date nights. No body was surprised when this happened, family, friends, they all expected it from you two. Always spontaneous and breaking social norms
now about a year later, you and vi are in the process of adopting a baby. You never expected the steps to be so long and annoying but finally you two were approved to adopt a baby girl named Lily. There’s still two weeks before you and vi get to meet her so instantly you two started getting the house ready. What vi didn’t know was that you’ve getting ready for this since you were 16. You’ve kept a box for your future kids and filled it with all kinds of clothes, toys, and necessities
while vi is downstairs putting together the crib you’re going through the box of collected baby things. While rifling through you you found the baby blanket your grandmother had crocheted for you. You lived with your grandma when you were young while your mom was getting back on her feet. Your grandmother practically raised you and her passing hit you harder than anyone in the family
you took the blanket up to your face and smelled it. It still smelled like your grandmother. You held the blanket close and continued taking in the scent and the memories that came along with it. You were so lost in the nostalgia or it all that you didn’t even notice the tears streaming down your face or the fact that vi had entered the room
“Baby? Honey?” vi says in a concerned voice, snapping you out of your flash back
