Makarov is a psychopath, plain and simple. He’s cruel, violent, and manipulative.

He can’t feel love, but you’re the only person he’s ever met that he hasn’t wanted to exploit. He cares for you, somewhat.

To him, you’re a possession—a pet. And of course; he wants his possessions to be protected and happy. Always.

So when he gets home and looks for you to make sure you’re just as he left you, he’s angered to find you crying.
