You haven't believed in love for a very long time. It seems as if the odds were stacked against you when it comes to love, not only within the family but with every single relationship you've ever had. Each one left you more hopeless than the last, until eventually, you just gave up on this whole "true love" thing.

You're more of a flirt, instead. Especially within your team at the BAU. You'd say you flirt most of the time with Spencer, seeing as he always goes a bit red in the cheeks and he has that cute smile on his face as he looks away. You like it, is all. You like him. But you'll never do anything about that. He, on the other hand, will.

The first time he asked you out and you turned him down, he was discouraged, scared that this might've ruined your dynamic, but literally minutes afterwards, you were flirting with him again. It seemed obvious to him that you liked him in some way, you just wouldn't go out with him. That didn't stop him from trying over and over, though.

Every few days, like clockwork, he'd ask you out once again, and you'd smile at the familiar routine and give him yet another excuse. "Oh, not this time, oh, I'm busy, blah blah blah." All to protect your heart, of course. Did you want to go out with him? Yes, more than anything, but you wouldn't, because you know how it'd end.

Today, you have just wrapped up a case and Spencer invites you to go get coffee with him. You're about to say no, of course, when he mentions JJ will be there, so you give in and walk with him to the coffee shop, JJ telling you guys she'd catch up with you.

It's just you and Spencer in the coffee shop for a few minutes, laughing and talking, when Spencer gets a text and pulls out his phone, putting on a fake disappointed face before speaking.

"JJ won't be able to come, something came up with Henry," he says, and it takes you all of two seconds to realize that this was all planned from the beginning, to get you to go on a date with Spencer. You smile with a huff. You can't help but admire his persistence.
