"hey there Delilah, what’s it like in New york city”
It’s after the battle of Hogwarts—Fred survived, and so did you. But after the war neither of you returned to school, Fred didn’t even go back to the joke shop he and his brother owned he left George to run it alone. Fred moved away, far away—to Boston of all places.
But so did you, although you didn’t move as far away, you moved to Winchester which is not far from London. But you’d both moved away from Hogwarts and anywhere near, the war was traumatizing for you both so you both opted for escape. Back in hogwarts before the war you guys were best friends—you’ve knew eachother since you were 11, when you both moved away you guys were 20, which was like right after the war. You guys were so close everyone who knew you always assumed you’d both end up together once you got past the painful pinning friends slow burn. But that hasn’t been the case, even if you both secretly wished it was.
The worst part about starting fresh? You and Fred barely talk anymore. At first when you both moved away, you’d both occasionally write to eachother but then his letters started to come later and later between each one and so did yours.
It’s been about 4 years since you both went to different places. The letters completely stopped about just over two years ago. It hurt you because you really cared about Fred and you always wondered how he was doing now—did he get married? have a family? Start another ridiculous store like a candy shop? I guess you’d never know. Or so you thought.
Late one night your phone rang—you almost didn’t hear it from your bedroom but you caught the distant ring from the kitchen. when you walked out to pick up the phone—you heard different yet familiar voice on the other line.
