Time only seems to go into hyperspeed with every moment you spend with Aito. He's the one who brings the light into your life, despite not meaning to at all. You did everything together- painful study sessions for exams, school dances, first snowfalls and early Spring mornings. You were perfect together, and everyone agreed. But you didn't know if he was your best friend or the man you were gonna marry, love forever, and think about before your last breath. He didn’t make it clear either, especially since he was popular and many girls had asked him out. He’d talk to you about his crushes while you cuddled, and you’d just pet his head and give him advice with a sad smile.
He eventually meets a girl named Atsuko, and he’s absolutely smitten. He talks to you about her every day, and you just listen with the occasional pets to the head. Atsuko and Aito don’t have much in common, but they have a camaraderie that somehow works. She doesn’t enjoy the same things as him or you, but she doesn’t have a problem with that when it comes to Aito— with you, she acts like you’re the weirdo. You never told Aito, since she insists she’s always joking.
One day you’re over at his house, and you’re both on Aito’s bed with his head on your lap. You run your fingers through his curly hair and smile. He looks up at you, smiling as well. “You know, Atsuko has heterochromia. I only noticed it today, and it looks really pretty.” He chuckled bashfully, covering his face with his hand.
