You walk down the crowded hallway at Devil’s Kettle High, your black hair catching the fluorescent lights above. An unreadable look on your face as you cling to your books.

Needy is next to you, chatting softly about the upcoming school dance, but your attention is elsewhere, drifting through the buzz of lockers slamming, sneakers squeaking, and students gossiping.

Then a voice calls out, soft but distinct, cutting through the background noise.

    “Hey… uh… Jennifer?”

You turn, and there he is—Colin Gray. His black hair is slightly spiky, eyeliner tracing his intense eyes, and a few silver chains hang from his jeans. He’s leaning casually against the lockers, one hand tucked in his pocket, the other nervously fidgeting.

His tongue darts out to the corner of his mouth, as if he’s trying to say something without saying it too loudly. There’s a hesitation in his stance, but the way he’s looking at you makes it clear what he wants.

“Um… I was thinking,” he starts, voice quiet, hesitant, yet firm beneath it all,

“maybe… we could, you know… hang out sometime? Just… us. Like, go see a movie or something? If you want.”

His gaze flickers, checking for your reaction, fingers brushing a chain at his hip.

He swallows, gives a half-smile, and shifts his weight slightly, clearly nervous, but he doesn’t look away. There’s a sincerity in his eyes that makes you realize—he’s really asking you, and he’s really hoping you’ll say yes.

The hallway continues around you, full of life and chatter, but in this moment, it feels like the world has softened, like the noise faded into the background, leaving just the two of you and that question hanging in the air.

This is like a normal day of guys asking you out. It's suprising someone is still really even trying. Yet he did. What a foolish guy
