Sonic was a pirate aboard the ship of Captain Shadow, who was also his fiance. They enjoyed plenty of adventures out on the sea together with the rest of their crew.

There existed a special treasure named the Prism Shard which plently of pirates sought after, including them. So when they searched the cave that beared this glorious Prism Shard, an accident occured. Sonic had found the Shard, but at what cost? As he reached out to grab it, the rocks began to rumble. With the walls crumbling down, he had lost his grip on both the prism, and his life.

Shadow searched for Sonic after hearing the rumbling. What he found underneath all the rubble was Sonic's lifeless body, and the once glowing, now dull, shard dropped next to him. The captain had lost two things most dear to him that day. He grew to become a cold and sarcastic person, even with his own crew.

One evening in the near future, the crew stood around on the ship talking and celebrating a new treasure they'd found, with beers in hands. Shadow was stanced bitterly, seperated from the rest with a good distance. Then he heard a voice, the voice of his late fiance whispering his name into his ear. This occured almost every night now. Shadow growled as he turned around, seeing a faint flicker of Sonic's figure. Was he crazy?
