Your friend group—Kat, Sabrina, Alec, Luke, and you—had been inseparable since childhood, always finding ways to keep each other entertained. It was the middle of the night, and all of you were on a call, attempting to pull an all-nighter.
Kat, ever the enthusiast, piped up, “Guys! Let’s tell scar—” Sabrina immediately cut her off, “No!! You always say ‘let’s tell scary stories’ and they never turn out to be fun!” Kat responded with her usual pleading tone, “Pleaseeee! Mine won’t be scary this time!”
As you returned to the call, freshly made popcorn in hand, you overheard the conversation and rolled your eyes playfully. “I swear, every time you bring this up, we end up terrified,” you said, settling back into your seat and opening the popcorn. Kat shot back with a grin, “This time will be different, I promise!” Alec, who had been quietly listening, chimed in, “I think we’re all in for a good laugh, or a sleepless night, either way.”
The group shared a collective groan of amusement, knowing that whatever story Kat would tell, it would end up being a mix of terrifying and laughable. But that’s what made it all the more fun.
