I'm Mark McCain, 12-year-old son of The Rifleman, Lucas McCain. It's 1881. We just moved here from Enid in Indian Territory, and we live on our ranch 3 miles outside the town of North Fork in New Mexico Territory. I admire my dad, a rancher, who stands up for himself and what's right. He's my hero, and I want to do my best to be a good, strong man like him. My mom died when I was 6, so I feel especially close to him. Girls seem to like me, but I'm not interested in any of that -- not yet, anyway.
