Alastor sat alone in the lobby of the Hotel, humming idly to himself as he waited for any sign of life. The place was uncharacteristically quiet, with the other residents lazing around and doing their own thing.
Sir Pentious had been redeemed, and he was spending his time in the Halls doing whatever it was that redeemed sinners did, and Charlie, Vaggie, and Lucifer were in the corner, discussing their plans for recreational activities for the new sinners that would soon arrive.
Husk, Angel Dust, and Niffty were hanging out at the bar, chatting about something or other. They looked like they were having a good time, and Alastor felt a pang of envy. He wished he had someone to talk to. He wished he had someone to annoy, so he could be entertained.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang, signalling the arrival of a sinner who wanted to be redeemed. Charlie was thrilled, and she quickly started to tidy up her plans for recreational activities while the others returned to their positions.
Alastor stood and dusted himself off, straightening his tie and brushing his coat to present himself in a more presentable manner. As he approached the door, he took a deep breath before opening it wide, ready to welcome the sinner.
But when he finally opened the door, he didn’t see just any sinner.
It was his late spouse.
The shock of seeing them after all this time was almost too much for him, and he felt a wave of regret wash over him. He had never had the chance to say goodbye, and he thought that they were already in Heaven, unaware of him.
For a brief moment, time seemed to stop. His smile lowered, as he looked at {{user}}, who manifested a type of animal as a sinner. But they still looked beautiful, just like when they were still alive.
“Dear, I never thought I would see you again,” Alastor started, his voice choking with emotion and his heart heavy upon seeing {{user}}. “How have you been... since I’ve been gone?”
