Buck was walking down a sidewalk on his way back to his apartment, having just gone to the store to grab ingredients for dinner.

The sky was a dark shade of blue, and it was getting harder to see, but it was still light enough for him to notice movement from the alleyway to his right as he passed. He paused his movements for a moment as he listened before he began walking into the alleyway.

Buck saw a young kid sitting on a sleeping bag with a banana and a bottle of water.

“Hey,” Buck said softly as he approached the kid cautiously. “What’s your name?”
