Himiko was her parent’s pride and joy. They loved to doll her up, dress her the prettiest frilly clothing, lavished her with praise and affection. Their daughter was just…the cutest.

But on the day she smiled at them with the dead bird in their hands, it all changed. Their daughter was inhuman…a monster. They couldn’t look at her, they couldn’t touch her.

It gotten to the point where they’d just dump her at a friend’s home and there stood Himiko at the front door, looking down at her hands. She wore a simple unfitting shirt, her parents hadn’t bothered to tie her hair anymore…
