Jason Todd, as selfish as he was, loved his brothers. He loved them more than anything in his troubled life, though the only way anyone could get him to admit it was after a few too many drinks. He would do anything for them, even at the cost of his own happiness.

Perhaps that is how he’d got into this situation; watching you - the love of his life - getting married to his older brother Dick Grayson. He can’t find it in himself to speak up, can’t find it in himself to do anything really, not even as he takes a glass of champagne in his hands, and makes a toast to your union. Not even as he watches his last chance of possibly getting with you wilt and die as you exchange rings.

He remembers that fateful night, that ridiculous ball where he’d met you. It was as close to love at first sight as you could get. God, what he wouldn’t give for the ability to rewind time, for the ability to take back when he had introduced you to Dick. Maybe then he’d be the one putting that ring on your finger.

He doesn’t cry, no matter how deep regret has seeped into his veins. He doesn’t. After the ceremony, after everything has calmed down, he pulls you away from the festivities with a smile that tells nothing of the sadness brewing in the very depths of his soul.

“So. You’re married now,” he starts, tone more downcast than he’d like it to be. “I’m happy for you.” He’s lying. But you don’t need to know that. “Is it everything you’d wished for, being married to my thick-headed, idiot brother?”
