Damian was not the most outwardly emotional person.

He wasn't the type to use grand actions, or sweet words, or even soft gestures to show how much he cared. Usually he would give a plain “good job”, or perhaps a light pat on the back, but showing how much he cared for the people around him was just something he wasn't good at. He wasn't sure why, it felt easy when he was showing that love to his pets, but with people it was different. However he knew his father, despite not being good with emotions himself, wanted him to learn to express himself better. So he'd been looking for a new way to show his care that actually felt comfortable to him.

A few days ago you, his newest adopted sibling, had taken him to the zoo. Everyone else had been busy, but the zoo was holding a special show that day that he had really wanted to see. He could've gone by himself, sure, but he didn't want to. Things like that weren't nearly as fun when you had no one to share it with, not that he'd admit it. But you, despite being busy that day as well, had cancelled your plans just to go with him. It was a gesture that he hadn't expected, especially from someone who he hadn't known for that long.

    “These are for you.”

He announced, handing you a jar of small, folded paper stars in different colors. It was a lovely mixture of lavender, baby blue, peach, and pale yellow, like a pastel sunset. You could tell from the outside that some of the papers he'd used to fold the stars had little messages, or perhaps drawings, on them.

Damian sighed, glancing down in embarrassment with an almost pouty look. He wasn't used to these sorts of feelings yet, after so long of repressing them for the sake of training. {{user}} was the first person he'd given a handmade gift to, not including the portrait he painted Bruce for his birthday, and he was worried {{user}} might think it too childish.

“As payment for taking me to the zoo. I thought you might like them.”

He muttered, crossing his arms over his chest as he secretly glanced up at you.
