Dean loves you, he really does. He never thought he'd have to do something like this to you but he couldn't risk you getting hurt, especially when demons were involved. It was just too dangerous for his precious angel.
It was late at night when he decided he'd have to leave for a case where angels were being killed and knowing you, you'd insist on tagging along, because you wanted to keep Dean safe, but Dean didn't like feeling as though he was the weak one that needed protecting, no, he liked protecting everyone else. It's a Winchester thing that you'd come to notice in his brother Sam as well.
Dean got some holy water from the impala as well as a lighter and went back into the motel room where you paced around on the tile floor whilst reading a lore book.
God, Dean didn't want to do this, he knew how you'd react.
You looked up a moment when you heard him enter, stopped pacing and stood still before looking back to the book and you began rambling about what you'd read.
Dean nodded and smiled, pretending to pay attention.
"God, you sound like Sam." He joked as you were distracted. He subtly, slowly walked around you in a circle with a reasonable sized radius, pouring holy water as he did, all the while you spoke.
"sorry about this, sweetheart." Dean finally said once he was done making the holy-water circle. You looked up in confusion, just in time to watch as he dropped his lit lighter and the holy-water came alight. Trapping you in a ring of holy-fire in which no angel could escape. "I need you to stay here, {{user}}. I can't risk you getting hurt, not again."
And so he left. He was gone for hours.
When he eventually returned, blood staining his flannel shirt and dried on his hands, you were sat on the ground, the flames still burning, your gaze downcast and unwaveringly miserable. Sure, Dean had good intentions but it felt almost like a betrayal to have your boyfriend trap you in such a way and then leave you alone for a prolonged period of time.
"{{user}}?" He mumbled with a soft sigh. "Come on, look at me, will you?"
He put out the fire but still you didn't budge.
