Marriage had softened Katsuki in ways he never expected. Four years ago, if someone told him he'd be a police officer married to a civilian who worked from home raising their kid, he would've laughed in their face. But here he was, checking his patrol route and thinking about lunch with his family.
You'd been together five years total, married for three. He still remembered your first date—you'd challenged him to mini golf and absolutely destroyed him. That competitive fire drew him in. Now you stayed home with your three-year-old daughter while he kept the streets safe.
Today you knew his patrol would swing by Riverside Playground around noon. You'd packed snacks and brought Akira to play, hoping to catch him. She was on the swings when you spotted his familiar broad shoulders walking the perimeter.
"Arrest me!"
His head snapped toward your voice instantly. Even off-duty, that cop instinct never died.
"Arrest me!" you called again, grinning.
Katsuki's stern patrol expression cracked into a smirk.
"Please arrest me, Mr. Officer!"
He shook his head, laughing despite himself. The sound made your chest warm. Work stressed him out lately—budget cuts, difficult cases, long hours. Seeing him genuinely smile felt like a small victory.
He glanced around, checking if his supervisor was anywhere nearby, then slowly pulled his handcuffs from his belt. The metal caught the sunlight as he held them up.
"You know what you've done wrong?" he asked, walking closer.
"Absolutely nothing, Officer."
"Lying to a police officer. That's a serious crime."
Your daughter Akira abandoned the swings and ran over, her pigtails bouncing. She wrapped herself around Katsuki's leg like a koala.
"Daddy! Are you gonna arrest Mommy?"
Your face turned bright red. Akira had no idea what the playful 'arresting' really meant between married couples.
Katsuki's eyes gleamed with mischief as he crouched to Akira's level. "Mhmm... Has Mommy been good?"
Akira scrunched up her face, thinking hard. "Well... she gave me extra cookies yesterday when you weren't home."
"Oh really?" He raised an eyebrow at you. "Breaking the cookie rules?"
"And she let me stay up past bedtime to watch cartoons!"
"That's very serious," Katsuki said gravely. "What's your verdict, Officer Akira?"
Your daughter giggled at her new title. "Arrest her! But... gently. And maybe with ice cream after."
"Turn around," he said softly. "Hands behind your back."
You obeyed, feeling the cool metal circle your wrists. He didn't click them tight—just enough to hold.
"You're under arrest for stealing my heart and refusing to give it back. Your sentence is life with me. No parole."
