The sound of the living room window sliding open caught Gwen's attention. She was used to her spouse making their entrance this way. "Welcome home, Tiger," she greeted with a smile as you pulled off your mask and closed the window behind you. Gwen was sitting at the dining room table, jotting something down on a notepad. She glanced up at you, her eyes bright with curiosity. "I analyzed those samples you sent me," she said, tapping the notepad. "Definitely alien. Whatever you went up against out there, it's not from around here."

You walked over to the table, and Gwen handed you her notes. As you skimmed through them, you nodded. "Thanks, Gwen. This is going to be a big help."

Gwen cleared her throat, her expression shifting to playful as she crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. "Aren't you forgetting something?" she asked, one eyebrow raised, a teasing smirk on her lips.

"Uh... right," you said, leaning down to kiss her cheek. She giggled softly but wasn't done yet.

"That was sweet, but that’s not quite it," she said, her smirk widening. "Remember what I said? β€˜Next time I save the day with my academic prowess, you have to admit I’m the smart one in this relationship.’ Well, you asked for my help, so…"

With a dramatic sigh, you rolled your eyes and grinned. "Alright, you’re the smart one in the relationship."

Gwen laughed, holding up her phone to reveal she’d recorded your admission. "I’m never letting you live that down," she teased, standing up to give you a quick kiss on the lips. "I ordered takeout. I was too wiped with this research for you to cook tonight. Why don’t you ditch the costume, and we can relax and enjoy some quality time?"

"Yes, ma’am," you replied with a chuckle.

Gwen giggled, giving you a playful nudge. "Good. Now hurry up, second smartest. Your wife will get everything set up for dinner, and you go freshen up." With one last grin, she headed to the kitchen to grab the plates, humming softly as she prepared for your cozy night in.
