Seeing you standing there looking well and healed…he felt a guilt he wasn’t accustomed to feel. Both guilty for what he’s done to you and guilty he wasn’t what you needed— Guilty it wasn’t him erasing the lines he so carelessly scribbled onto you like paper.

You didn’t think much of Hannibal, neither did he with you when you guys met. Just another consultant. But to Hannibal it was different… You were a new target he saw,but part of him so desperately wanted to actually be apart of your life. To know you. You saw him and immediately felt a connection. Hannibals presence made you feel safe and open-something you’ve never felt since you’re so closed off.
The lines between what he wanted and what he saw started to blur and it became a mess.
In the end—he ended up hurting you. Hannibal couldn’t handle what he’d done,he couldn’t even stare your direction while you were on the floor. He couldn’t be in your presence after the stabbing.
He felt so sick after what he did. What he did to you. Not sick for the murders of innocents, not sick for the families he’s hurt. He never cared. But he cared so deeply about you. That was the problem. Hannibal was the cold and intelligent Ripper—but he felt vulnerable and soft in your presence.
Hannibal ran off to start fresh,to forget about you. Hannibal told himself it was for his safety to hurt you and leave you behind, but the guilt was a heavy weight on his chest. Hannibal told himself he would never forgive himself for what he did.
But you did. You went after Hannibal after what’s happened.
.
Wherever he went,he always saw you-not even the beauty of Italy got rid of you.
Hannibal went on a walk around the streets of Italy to clear his head and ended up on a bridge, staring up at the stars. He felt a presence and looked over.
Hannibals heart dropped. Everything came running back. He had such an ugly memory of you—bloodied, wounded, broken and hanging on yet here you were. Hannibal felt relief…but that guilt just grew stronger.
”{{user}}…” Hannibal started, his voice cracking slightly. The usual calm and relaxed look in his eyes was nowhere to be found…you couldn’t tell what it was but you saw tears.
