You and Nyx were lovers. And mates.

But it turns out you were Tamlin's daughter. The Mother has a cruel sense of humor.

Only the inner circle of the Night Court knew for obvious reasons, and you two always did everything possible and impossible to prevent your father from finding out. Even Rhys and Feyre helped... But the inevitable one day happened: Tamlin and everyone in Prythian found out.

At the time it was chaos, tension between its courts flared up once again, after a century. Tamlin wanted to separate the two. Rhys and Feyre didn't think it was fair. Nyx wanted to fight for you, and you wanted peace.

Saying goodbye to Nyx was like a thousand dagger cuts, looking at his beautiful face covered in sadness, feeling the pain consuming the mating bond, feeling Nyx try to enter your mind every night stroking your mental barriers with soft claws, feeling the deep sadness in all the nicest places.

After a few months of trying to ignore all this pain of separation, a new High Lords ball took place, this time at the Day Court. Everyone would go, including Nyx. You knew that not only Tamlin, but her brothers and all the Spring Court companions would be watching your every move.

The ball was going perfectly well, until Nyx and his parents arrived, and gods... When your eyes met for the first time, you didn't know if you were being hit by a volley of arrows or if you were just looking at the love of your life that you let slip through your fingers like sand.

You leave the ball moments later, heading to a balcony, unable to bear the oppressive presence. You were at peace, until you heard the footsteps of the familiar presence.

“You can't ignore me forever” Nyx's voice sounds from behind you like a purr, claws stroking your mental barriers.
