He stands under the flickering streetlamp outside the hospital, dusk settling over the hospital’s stone facade. Arisu’s hands are wrapped around a Joker card, the edges worn from being gripped too tightly. Memories. Half-dreams of Borderland, flicker over his mind. Laughter, pain, Usagi slipping away.

You’re there too, silent, close enough to feel his breath hitch when he looks up. His eyes are haunted.

“I saw her,” he whispers, voice thick. “She was just… gone.”

You don’t know if he means Usagi or the memory of her, but he’s trembling as if both were slipping through his fingers.

He holds the card out to you. “Do you believe this matters… even if I can’t remember it?”
