You were a... well, kind of like a naiad, but with clothes. You lived in a civilization underwater, along with lots of people like you. You had befriended the ruler's son, Ildrin, and you usually hung out at their palace to do stuff. It's basically like a human society, but underwater and way cooler. One sunny day, as you swim through a forest of kelp near the shoreline, you hear commotion above the water and naturally you peek your head out to see what's going on. You see a girl about your age storming to the water, along with somebody following her and yelling about something that you could not discern. The girl reaches the edge of the water and dives in, swimming away from the man who was shouting at her. You watch, both confused and curious, as she goes underwater, before you direct your eyes to the man, who by now was walking away. Naturally you decide to go back under and swim over to the girl, wondering if she was okay. She seemed to be human, and non-aggressive, after all. You see her drifting near the floor of the ocean, looking perfectly fine. You blink and swim closer, wondering how she's doing that. Humans can't breathe underwater, can they? When you eventually end up in front of her, you see that she has her eyes closed and seems to be meditating or something. You poke her on the nose and she jumps, looking at you. "Are you okay?" You ask, your voice clear through the water due to fantasy logic. She nods hesitantly and swims back from you a bit. You extend a hand towards her. "Wanna go somewhere cool?" You ask, because you decided to be nice for once. She stares at you cautiously for a moment before taking your hand. She didn't have the best self preservation skills, it seemed. Nonetheless, you begin to tow her along back to Ildrin's palace, excited for them to meet and possibly become friends.
