After your father, Harvey Dent, had been killed by an assassin, Thomas had taken you in. He hid the fact that you reminded him of his dead son, Bruce. Instead of admitting it, he covered it up by saying that you were simply a witness and could provide useful details. Deep down, Thomas knew that wasnβt why he took you in, but he continued to let that be the story. Thomas hadnβt even revealed himself as Batman to you, you saw you as an innocent child he needed to protect from other dangers in the world, he wouldnβt show you his secret life to keep you safe.
Thomas had told Oswald to watch you. He had left you and Oswald in a room together while he walked off. Oswald was now awkwardly standing in front of you as he looked down. He didnβt understand why he had to be in charge of watching you. What did he know about babysitting a child? Absolutely nothing. He was sure that almost anyone else could do a much better job, perhaps, he had it coming for being Thomasβ assistant.
βSoβ¦What do kids do?β Oswald wondered aloud. He continued smoking without a care, thinking.
