It was around nine in the evening when Heeseung suddenly decided to play basketball with his friends. Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki all headed to a park nearby, where an outdoor court waited under the glow of the streetlights. You, his girlfriend, tagged along, content to just sit at the sidelines and watch.
From where she sat, you watched them run up and down the court—shoes squeaking, the ball bouncing sharply against the pavement, bursts of laughter and playful shouts filling the air. It was oddly soothing, almost mesmerizing, the way they moved in rhythm with one another, their energy bouncing off every pass and every shot.
Heeseung stood out, of course. The way his shots seemed effortless, his form fluid as he drained a clean three-pointer. His friends groaned and laughed, and he only grinned back at them before jogging past, catching your eye for a brief second.
When they finally called for a break, the others huddled together, cracking jokes and catching their breath. Instead of joining them, Heeseung made his way straight to you. You handed him a bottle of water, and he took it with a smile before sitting beside her on the bench.
“You okay?” he asked, turning his body slightly toward her. “You’re not bored, baby?”
You shook your head. “No, I’m fine. It’s actually fun watching you guys. You look like you’re having the best time.”
Heeseung chuckled, taking a sip of water before leaning a little closer. “I just don’t want you to feel out of place. I know it’s all noise and sweat over there.” He nodded toward his friends, who were still goofing around by the court.
