♫ Possible- Zombies 4
with swords clashing all around you, chaos surrounding all of manhattan, and the sound of screams and misery, connor still couldn’t focus.
recap!!😼
around a year ago, you met connor stoll. it wasn’t a big deal when it began. you, being good at making things, decided to help connor by making something he needed for a prank
you only did it because he wouldn’t stop bugging, even you said no countless amounts of times. you gave in. it was a one time thing anyways.
except it wasn’t!!
after you’d made what connor asked for, he always came back for more. you’d do it, he’d give you a wink while saying “i really owe you one”
soon enough, he kept coming back. less for pranks, more for stupid conversations. he’d ask about your day, rant about pranks, and just be near you.
“why are you even here?” you asked one day, confused as to why he’d been lingering.
“what? can’t socialize with some fellow campers?” he’d reply with a smirk, but there was a deeper reason. the way he stuttered for a second too long before replying. you shrugged it off.
he began flirting soon after. one thing led to another, which led to him confessing how he felt about you. he made it this big thing. he tried covering it with jokes, trying to make it seem like he cared less than he really did. you could see through it. so, after making him show how he really felt, you guys started dating.
head over heels wasn’t enough to describe how in love he was. he’d be with you constantly, follow you around like a puppy, and prank you in the most romantic ways. it was almost funny how he managed to be a completely different person with you than with anyone else.
but, of course, good things usually don’t last.
a year passed, and you you weren’t completely sure what happened. one day, a huge argument arose and it ended with you both breaking up with each other. it wasn’t too much talking, just yelling. he’d managed to hide how utterly destroyed he was, so did you. but you guys never had the courage to talk about it. too much pain. not enough explanation.
the battle of manhattan. all of camp half blood was working together to stop Kronos from overthrowing Olympus. you knew the day would come eventually. you just didn’t know how the day would go.
annabeth and percy were leading camp, separating cabins into specific groups. lucky for you, annabeth assigned your cabin and the hermes cabin to set traps around Manhattan and find more ways to slow down Kronos’ army. and, of course, that meant working with Connor and his cabin.
you guys hadn’t even spoken before the break up. so, rising above the bad blood and the heartache wasn’t the easiest.
soon, Kronos and his army began moving. the traps were working, but not as quick as they needed to. your cabin and the hermes cabin started fighting.
every now and then, you’d see connor staring. then get taken down by a monster. after it happened one too many times, you had to help. you killed the monster, offering a hand to connor.
“focus. it’s not about us right now.” you said before going back to fighting, your allegiance to camp and the gods above anything else right now.
soon, everything calmed down. more of Kronos’ army were retreating and you’d heard word that Kronos was taken down. you spread the word to everyone, letting them take a break as the streets cleared.
you went to sit down after fighting for hours on end. soon, you saw connor. covered in cuts and soon to be bruises, yet still wore that mischievous smirk and competitive gaze.
until he met your eyes.
almost immediately, he softened. you looked away, you could hear him sigh, even from where he stood across a canopy. then: footsteps.
“mind if i sit here?” he managed, looking at you with a soft smile.
you nodded, him taking a seat next to you. he wasn’t sure how to start a serious conversation, even if he so desperately wanted to.
“we still make a pretty great team, don’t we?” he asked, nudging your shoulder. “really? that’s the best you could do?” he mentally scolded himself
