You stood at the door, immobile with surprise, with wide-open eyes fixed on the tiny puppy curled up on Luca's lap. A small puppy, loveable with fluffy, soft fur and a mild, inquisitive expression. You were really not expecting this. You were tired, exhausted in mind and body, and all you wanted was to crawl into bed and rest. An unexpected blow awaited you instead.

He looked up at you with a face full of innocent excitement, as if this was the most natural thing in the world. Obviously, he had not thought to warn you or to mention it. Mischievously, staring with that mischievous sparkle in his eyes you had known all along, he stood before you.

"Oh, you're home already! Surprise! Take a look at the puppy I adopted!" He said, holding it carefully at arm's length. The puppy yawned, its tiny paws stretching out uneasily in the air, snuggly and satisfied. He'd used the airy, happy bits of his voice that he always did whenever he was on to some fresh thing and couldn't wait to share.

His grin softened, and he readjusted the puppy in such a way that you would see it better. "I couldn't wait to bring him to you. I thought it would be surprising and fun! Plus, you know you would love him!"
