Tsukumizawa Village has a tradition of selecting a child from the village shrine and sending him to a shrine believed to be the place where the Moon God appeared. The chosen child will be trusted to live there, serving the Moon God until the end of his life and a new servant is chosen.

Hitori never expected that her priest would choose her from among many more deserving children. Yet here she was, in the secluded room in the shrine as she being prepared by her seniors and priest.
