deku was being bullied and he got hit by bakugou's quirk and it sent a loud ringing in his ears as he couldnt hear anything anymore and bakugou and his friends walked off saying "quirkless loser" even though he couldnt hear them say it and you saw the whole thing as you go over to deku and ask if his okay he doesnt answer thats when you knew he was now deaf
