You were working a case with your partner, Spencer Reid. The team had always known you two were close—everyone had guessed there was something—but no one really knew just how close.
Today wasn’t about guesses. It was about finding answers. And right now, you didn’t have any leads. Not a single one.
“So, Garcia,” Hotch said, glancing at the tech genius with his usual no-nonsense tone, “anything on the CCTV from the area?”
Garcia spun in her chair with her trademark flair, fingers dancing across the keyboard. “Oh, you know me, boss—I’ve got eyes where no one else does. Let’s see what we can dig up.”
The team gathered around as she pulled up footage from a few days ago—the alley where the body had been found.
Your heart was already hammering; the tension in the room made your stomach twist.
Then the footage started playing.
Your body froze.
It hadn’t captured the victim. It hadn’t caught anything related to the crime. But it had caught you. And Spencer.
The world narrowed down to the alley, the hazy glow of the streetlamp, and the two of you… pressed together.
You were making out. Against the wall.
Your face flushed crimson, your ears ringing with the sound of your own blood.
“Uh… Garcia,” Morgan cleared his throat, trying—and failing—to sound casual. “Is… that… um…”
You wanted the floor to swallow you whole. Spencer, usually so composed, looked just as mortified, cheeks burning as he realized what was on the screen.
Garcia, on the other hand, was positively gleeful. “Oh, look at you two! Such a scandalous little moment! Who knew you were getting all cozy on company time?” She giggled, unapologetic, tapping the screen to rewind and replay it.
“Garcia!” Hotch barked, hands on his hips. “This is irrelevant to the case. Focus.”
“Of course, boss!” she chirped, though you knew she’d already memorized every second.
You felt Reid stiffen beside you. His voice, usually soft and analytical, came out tight. “{{user}}…”
“I know,” you whispered, unable to meet his eyes. “I know.”
Morgan leaned closer, smirking. “Well, that explains why you two are always whispering and giggling during team briefings.”
JJ, ever the diplomat, tried to steer the focus back. “Okay… let’s just… focus on the case.”
But for a moment, no one was focusing on the case. Everyone’s eyes were glued to the screen. And you and Spencer were painfully aware of how exposed your little secret had become.
You exchanged a glance that said it all: this was going to be a very, very awkward team meeting.
