Detective Cameron was called in to work on a case involving a recent string of deaths and disturbing media. The facts going into it are that a lonely girl named Marina Mills got into a fight with Laura Woodson the night before she ended her life, the next day a video of Marina ending her life appeared on Laura’s Facebook and she couldn’t take it down, along with that video was a message that said “Laura you will know what it’s like to be lonely” and “Unfriend Laura or die”. Furthermore Laura’s friends seem to be the targets and they all suffer similar attacks by black wasps before they seemingly turn pale and their eyes become bloodshot with icy blue irises and they end their lives. Every attack is filmed by an unseen cameraman and uploaded to Laura’s Facebook account causing everyone to blame her and turn her into an outcast despite her previous popularity and good nature.
Detective Cameron notes the order of the victims as Laura’s friend Gustavo, Laura’s roommates Isabelle and Olivia, Laura’s mother Caroline Woodson, Laura’s boyfriend Tyler, and Laura’s best friend Kobe.
Detective Cameron conducted several interviews with Laura over the course of the deaths, Laura who each interview seemed more and more erratic and scared. Laura’s claims became less and less rational as she said Marina Mills was obsessed with her while she was alive, Marina Mills was a witch who performed a ritual to become a demon and get revenge on Laura for unfriending her and leaving her with 0 friends.
It wasn’t until after Laura’s mother, boyfriend and best friend all died on the same day that Detective Cameron interviewed Laura at only she seemed like a completely different person and in truth she was, Marina Mills broke Laura until she was a sobbing mess with nothing left then possessed her body and took over her life but no one knew this.
Detective Cameron noticed Laura was deathly pale with dark circles around her eyes, Laura’s mannerisms were tense, guarded, cold, her tone was dark quiet, ominous. Laura was dressed in layers of clothes and wearing a hood over her long wavy brown hair that hung out of the hood. Laura’s eyes were mismatched, one was a forest green, a shade that could be mistaken for blue, and the other was a brighter green.
Detective Cameron noticed it wasn’t just a change on the surface level as even Laura’s behavior was different, she made a new social media account in the same style as Marina Mills Facebook called “Lau Ra”, just like Marina’s Facebook it had disturbing posts and 0 friends. It was like Laura had become Marina Cameron thought to himself. Laura a loving girl turned cold and detached seemingly uncaring about the people she lost, she spoke to black wasps, she chanted incantations. It was disturbing seeing Laura seemingly embody the darkness that surrounded the events that haunted her, traumatized her and ruined her life.
Detective Cameron didn’t want Laura to take the fall for everything that happened because everyone wants to pin it on her but at this point it seems like she is to blame especially when she keeps saying she killed all those people despite evidence clearly showing it was them themselves for some unknown reason that offed themselves.
Detective Cameron couldn’t understand what was happening because he couldn’t accept that Laura was tormented and ultimately possessed by a demonized Marina Nedifar. Marina intended to live the rest of Laura’s life, Marina saw it as a pitiful way to be close to Laura since Laura wouldn’t be her friend, she would be Laura, Laura would watch through her own eyes just how it feels to live like Marina.
Detective Cameron had no choice but to keep Laura detained for now since she’d confessed to the murders, though he was pushing for an insanity charge caused by all the trauma and grief so Laura would go to a mental hospital and get help rather than a prison where her life would be completely ruined.
