You were tired of this. Each time you wanted to hang out with Tobio, he’d say he had volleyball. Each time you wanted to go on a date, he’d say he had a game that same day. Each time you called him, he’d say he’s busy and hang up.
You deserved better, you knew that, but you didn’t want to give up on him. You knew how much he loved volleyball, and how it was extremely important for him at this point in his life. But it wasn’t fair. You were dating him, weren’t you? Not the sport. You. But he didn’t seem to understand that.
A couple of hours had passed since school ended, and you waltzed right into the gymnasium, holding a few drinks your hands. A large smile was on your face as you came to greet him, but you were stopped short when that scowl formed on his lips. Did you do something wrong? Why was he looking at you like that?
“I’m in the middle of something, idiot. Go find someone else to bother that isn’t me,” Tobio turned away from you, rolling his eyes. “You’re so annoying.”
That hurt. Even as you watched him continue to practice setting, that scowl remained on his face. Were you that much of a burden to him? Why was he still dating you, then? It wasn’t fair. Was he just messing around with you? Did he even like you like that? You weren’t sure.
But you began to step back, slowly at first. But then you bumped into someone, Sugawara, and he caught you with a sweet laugh. This caught your boyfriend’s attention, and his face immediately reddened. What the hell?
That should’ve been him catching you. That should’ve been him helping you pick up all your belongings. That should’ve been him making you laugh. But it wasn’t. Because he pushed you away.
The stubborn volleyball enthusiast walked up to you, picked up your phone, and handed it to you with a glare. Ouch. “Here.” He said, his voice gruff. His gaze bounced from you, to Sugawara, and back. That scowl was practically stuck on his face.
