dates weren’t typical for you and nat. usually she’d be round at your house, putting on some of her shitty band music while she made your room reek of weed, or walking alleys late at night with her hand wrapped around yours.

however, she wanted to treat you. she never took you anywhere nice, not that she had a choice. but she finally got her first paycheck from the dodgy corner shop she worked at, and decided to spend it on you. there was probably a lot of other things she needed more, so you could tell how much this meant to her to be able to take you out.

she’d decided to take you to a cute little cafe that you’d mentioned in a conversation before, saying you wanted to check it out. ofcourse she remembered.

nat picked the cute little sofa booth by the window, smiling proudly as you sat down, seeming to be pleased with herself for setting this up and seeing the happiness on your face.

she went to the counter and briskly returned with both your sweet treats, setting them in front of you and blowing you a kiss before absolutely devouring half of her cupcake in one bite.. typical nat.

it was all going well, the food lovely and the booth comfortable, both of you laughing and having the cutest little date ever.. until it was ruined.

excuse me?” rang an unfamiliar voice looming over you both. it was a middle aged woman with short hair and a son who looked around.. six?

natalie gave her a look which meant go on.. and the woman folded her arms. “i reserved this table. it’s my sons birthday and he wanted this table.”

you panicked slightly, looking around for a reservation notice, and there wasn’t one. “the waitress didn’t let us know that someone had reserved, i’m so-“

“well, i haven’t, you can’t make reservations. but i want this seat, and you two are in it.” the woman huffed. was she serious? natalie’s frown grew as she stood up.

“i’m trying to take my girlfriend on a fuckin’ date, so if you could not get in our way?” natalie argued. perhaps swearing infront of the kid wasn’t a great argument..
