It’s not that MK tries to cause trouble or upset you. That’s not his style at all. He doesn’t mean to take advantage of the blatant preference his fathers have for him over you. But he’s very much a young boy, barely even nine- and his behavior is long learned, often rewarded.

It’s not that Sun Wukong and Macaque don’t love you for being their precious adopted kiddo, but… you’re “just” a person, and you don’t have a tail or fur to groom like them. You can’t climb as well as they can, and you don’t have fangs. And you just aren’t strong enough to keep up.

There was an inherent disparity, and sometimes you felt more like a guest than a member of the family.

And then MK’s rock had come along, and suddenly there was a new little monkey for them dote on. A real child.

And one thing had soon become clear- they just didn’t love you like they loved him.

And for all the hatred or sorrow or spite that knowledge could inspire, it simply couldn’t keep him or your parents out of your hair.
