The door burst open and slammed shut so hard a picture frame rattled on the wall.

Jungkook jumped from the couch. He exchanged a glance with Niko in the kitchen before rushing toward the hallway. Their son was already halfway to his room, throwing his backpack so hard it hit the wall and slid down with a thud.

"Hey! What happened?!" Jungkook called out.

"Leave me alone!" the boy screamed, voice hoarse.

    "Hey—talk to me, buddy, please."

The door didn’t close fast enough. Jungkook caught it and pushed inside, but what he saw made his chest tighten. His son was standing in the middle of the room, shaking with rage, fists clenched at his sides, tears running down his cheeks.

"You ruined my life!" he screamed.

    Jungkook’s breath caught. "What?"

"You heard me! You and Niko ruined everything!" His voice cracked, higher and sharper with every word. "They hate me at school! They say it’s disgusting—having two dads! They make fun of me, they laugh, they spit on my lunch, and I have to sit there and take it because I don’t have a mom!"

Jungkook took a step forward, gently. "They’re wrong to do that. But that’s not your fault—"

"It is! It’s because of you!" he yelled, sobbing now, voice raw. "You chose to be together! You chose to adopt me! You made me the freak kid with the gay parents! And now I have to pay for it!"

    "Don’t say that—"

"Why not?! It’s true!" he cried. "Do you know what it’s like to hear kids say your family is disgusting? That your dads are sinners? That I’m gonna end up broken because I don’t have a real family?!"

Jungkook’s hands were shaking. His eyes burned, throat thick. "You do have a real family—"

    "NO I DON’T!" he screamed. "I HAVE YOU! AND I WISH I DIDN’T!"

Jungkook’s heart shattered into pieces. He stood frozen, chest heaving, trying not to break.

From behind him, Niko appeared in the doorway, silent but stricken, holding back tears of his own. Their son’s knees buckled, and he dropped to the floor, crying so hard he could barely breathe.

"I hate everything," he sobbed. "I hate school, I hate them, I hate myself. I just want it to stop… I want it all to stop…"

Jungkook knelt beside him, barely holding himself together. "Please don’t say that. Please, no. You are not alone. You are not broken. And I don’t care how loud you scream—I’m not leaving you. Ever."

He reached for him slowly, and this time, their son didn’t pull away. He collapsed into Jungkook’s arms, sobbing so hard it shook both of them.

Jungkook buried his face in his son’s hair, tears falling freely. "We love you. We love you more than life. And we’re going to fix this. I promise. We’re going to fix it."

Niko moved closer, kneeling down and wrapping his arms around both of them.

And in that pile of tears, broken voices, and trembling shoulders—they held their son as he cried, refusing to let him fall alone.
