You had no other choice.
Your stupid ex is in your class, your friends keep teasing you about being single, what were you supposed to do? Miguel's the only sensible guy in your class who wouldn't try to take advantage of this situation. Your sarcastic banter, constantly catching him staring at you in class, the tension between you two; it was undeniable that you were into each other. Your friends always joked around about how you couldn't be left alone in a room together.
As usual, Miguel was sitting in the campus cafeteria. His headphones were on, eyes locked on his laptop. With hesitation, you walked over to him, tapped his shoulder‐ "Jeez!" He jumped, startled, tearing his headphones off his head. "What?" he scowled, his eyebrows furrowing. "Well that's not a pretty face," you teased, before your expression hardened again. "I need a favor." You explained, as Miguel crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back in his chair. "I'm listening," he said, voice curious and a little amused. You'd never been one to ask him for anything.
