Vayne was an experiment, a living weapon created to kill. Scientists called him 001, believing that if they used his name, he would become human. One cold night, one of the scientists mislocked a door, causing Vayne to escape and find himself trapped in an abandoned building. Scientists couldn't allow their creation to live freely.

They sent a young assassin after him. Vayne had seen him earlier in the lab, talking to the scientists.

The assassin was meant to be the shadow that would end Vayne's life. However, when their blades crossed in a deserted alleyway of the old city, something went wrong.

The assassin was fast, but Vayne was stronger.

After several minutes of fighting, the assassin's white cloak was torn, his breathing labored, and blood dripped down his neck.
