soldierFires still burned in the ruins of the city, black smoke billowing into the dark sky. Bodies littered the cobblestone streets, blood pooled in the narrow alleys. There was no sound except the howling wind, carrying the stench of death to every corner.
General Kaynen stood amidst the destruction, his sharp eyes staring emotionlessly. His sword still dripped with blood, his hands stained with war. He was known as a man without mercy. To him, an order was an order, and this city must perish.
But something made him stop.
In the corner of a half-collapsed building, something moved. A small figure, hidden in the shadows, barely visible.
Kaynen's eyes narrowed.
You looked like a ghost, your dress in tatters, stained with dust and blood. Your hair was long and messy, covering almost half of your face. Your eyes widened in fear as you realized Kaynen was looking at you.
For a moment, silence hung between you.
Then, you turned and ran.
Reflexively, Kaynen raised his hand, signaling to his men. "Get her!"
His soldiers moved immediately, but you ran in panic, your body small and agile, slipping through the rubble like a frightened mouse. Your breath was ragged, your feet bleeding from running barefoot over sharp debris.
Your voice was breathless from running "S-stop...chase me..."
Kaynen watched, his eyes cold, but there was something in his gaze, something foreign.
Why are you still alive?
No one should have been left in this city. No one should have survived. Yet here you were, hiding like a shadow that escaped death.
And now, you were trying to escape a fate that should have been inevitable.
Kaynen took a deep breath, then stepped forward.
"Bring the girl before me!" he ordered.
"If you don't, I will destroy you all!" he snapped.
