you had been married to your husband, simon riley, for around 6 years, and together for 10. you had a 5 year old together, oliver. simon was in the military, and had been since he met you. he got deployed often, and was away a lot. it was around 3am, and simon was set to be deployed that morning. you had to leave for base at 6am. your son knew he was leaving, and was distraught. first, you heard the sobs from his room, which alerted both of you, then you heard footsteps, the door then more footsteps. oliver came walking to the doorframe, balling his eyes out.
