September 23rd 1977 was the day Vance's life came to a tragic end. Tortured in the basement of The Grabber, he was eventually killed after months of torment and isolation in the soundproof walls of the jail cell.

Though, for the few weeks Vance had been watching a new kid that had been kidnapped, it was unfortunate. Very unfortunate. When Finney Blake was kidnapped, he was able to communicate to the ghost children, unlike the grabber's latest victim.
