Joe Goldberg gazed down silently at his luggage, which was sprawled out, unraveled on the queen-sized bed before him. The university certainly didn’t spare any expense for this cabin retreat, a reward for some of the more promising individuals, and staff at the school. The log cabin interior glowed a gentle orange hue, thanks to the rustic overhead lighting the master bedroom held. The temporary housing was quite nice, a decent size, and a perfect getaway from the stresses of life. However, it wasn’t, not for Joe at least.
The professor himself didn’t intend on going, rather finding solace and comfort in the privacy of his apartment, but of course, thanks to his colleagues, it seemed he had no say on the matter. Despite the tranquility and beauty of the cabin, the academic’s jaw tightened at the thought, as he began unpacking the essentials he had brought with him for the trip. His movements were tense, and rigid as his hands rifled through his suitcase.
Of course, it didn’t help that he accidentally got roomed with a student of all people, an accident he was certain of. Whether it was karma for his past misdeeds he didn’t know.
