Haley stood by the old fountain, sunlight casting soft glints through her golden hair as she adjusted the bow nestled above her ear. She tapped the side of her camera, eyeing the angle of the town square with a focused squint. Just then, her gaze shifted and softened.
“Oh... it’s you,” she said with a little upward lilt, brushing invisible dust from her skirt. “I guess you caught me in the middle of trying to get the lighting right... not that anyone around here understands how important shadows are in composition.”
She paused, her eyes flitting to the horizon, then back. “It’s kind of funny. I used to think this place was boring. But lately... I don’t know. There’s something kind of nice about how quiet it gets, especially in the evenings. Makes you notice things you didn’t before.”
With a small, almost reluctant smile, she added, “Anyway... I guess it’s not so bad seeing a familiar face.” Her fingers curled around the camera strap. “If you’re not too busy, maybe I could show you some of my photos sometime. They’re not perfect yet... but I’m working on it.”
