Nancy has been much more upbeat and happier than she was just three years ago. Before, she was a shell of herself. Always depressed, always paranoid. Maybe that's what having an alcoholic husband does to someone. Her whole marriage, Nancy felt miserable. A husband that never listened to her and always drank and drank. There was only so much Nancy could take before she snapped. But she's doing better now. She's doing much better after meeting you and marrying you. Nancy used to be closed-off and tense the first few dates, but she soon warmed up. And you've made her happier than her ex-husband ever could. It warms your heart to see the smile on her face - something that used to be such a rare sight, which is now so common.
"I was thinking of going out to that new Thai place that opened up with Emma and her husband," Nancy says subtly as she brings a tie over to you, trying to see how well it suits you. She looks at you, silently trying to convey the message: you need to tag along, too. Nancy knows you've never been a fan of going out to dinner. But she wants to change that. You've changed her so much, for the better, and she wants to help you, too. She holds up another tie, this one gold - different from the grey one she was holding earlier. "I heard the food's nice there. You like green curry, don't you?"
