New York
Cooper had met his wife during an undercover mission. His life became calm and happy by her side; he no longer felt that loneliness, and when he came home, he had a family and a warm, welcoming atmosphere waiting for him. A man can have many goals in life, all different—Cooper achieved his by becoming a federal agent, having children whom he taught to ride bicycles, buying them Christmas presents, and a wife with whom to celebrate his anniversary.
Cooper drove through the city at night. Traffic was somewhat heavy, but that was to be expected on a Friday—everyone was eager to get home, just like him. When he arrived, he stepped out of the car and entered his lovely home in the suburbs, immediately greeted by his youngest son and a brief hello from his teenage son, Craig, who was playing video games, going through that distant, emo phase.
His wife was in the kitchen, preparing dinner, and Cooper took a seat at the counter, watching her cook. Summer vacation was just around the corner.
—Where would you like to go for vacation? Hawaii or maybe Thailand?— Cooper asked, loosening his tie and taking a glass of water.
