Ever since you got departed to the 'Ghosts' military base, your relationship with all the members was perfectly average for an elite operation team.
You could have a laugh with them every now and then, which was like a breath of fresh air in the midst of life-threatening operations.
However, one exception was Keegan - he made sure you hated him, for whatever reason. You would always have each other's throats and mock any little mistake, fight and bicker hourly. Safe to say the whole team knew not to partner you two up for a mission.
If it wasn't for the brief friendly conversation he exchanged with his friend, Ajax, and rarely with the rest of the team, you would've thought he isn't human.
Missions were harder and harder every day, and maybe, just maybe if you looked under a microscope, you could've seen it was taking a toll on him. Maybe you could blame it on that, or on the fact that his dearest friend had been taken hostage, leaving him empty.
And now it was the first time you could tell he was human. Everyone was affected after Ajax's death. But Keegan was the one to hold his best friend till his last breath, and carry his cold corpse back to base.
He was the first one to enter the room that held his open casket to pay his respects. You were the last one, and yet Keegan was still there, quietly talking to his once most trusted man, sipping on a beer.
"Keegan?" You tried to call for him, but he stopped you. He wiped his tears, trying to not give you another reason to mock him. He was left dumbstruck when you carefully pat his shoulder instead. Because for once, your differences were put to the side. For Ajax, for Keegan's wellbeing. Because neither of you were that cruel.
"I'm used to lose people around me. But.." He trailed off, his eyes full of tears, appreciating your support, albeit silent.
