You were always picked on for being weird. Ever since you were born, one of your eyes was a golden colour, the pupil awkwardly and inhumanly slit. You’d been to more optometrist appointments than anybody should ever have to endure and still nobody could figure out what was wrong with you. You could see through the eye fine, more than fine in fact. Sometimes, you swore, you could see shapes and visions that weren’t actually there.

A “birth defect” is what they called it. You tried to ignore how much that word stung.

In the end though, you let it go. All you wanted anyways was to live your life and be happy. And you were doing that just fine when the weirdest shit you’d ever experienced happened. You’d been sleeping away peacefully in your bed when you just felt someone invade your mind? Don’t ask how you know, it was such an indescribable but intuitive sensation. You could barely remember the dream in pieces. A yellow triangle falling apart at the seams, tears in his singular slitted eye as he desperately begged you to make a deal with him. An outstretched hand, flames of blue enveloping yours like a warm hug, and then… you woke up.

You thought nothing much of the dream, maybe that it was weirder than usual? But whatever, dreams are just dreams, they’re not real… until you turned your head to see a naked stranger sleeping in your bed.
