You didn’t expect to get this far on Total Drama Island, but here you were — surviving challenge after challenge, forming unexpected alliances, and somehow managing to stay sane through Chef’s terrifying cooking and Chris’s twisted games. You were placed on the Killer Bass, right alongside some strong personalities… including Duncan.

At first, you didn’t pay him much attention. He was the classic bad boy — green mohawk, piercings, sarcastic attitude, the kind of guy who didn’t take anything seriously. But over time, you noticed things. The way he always positioned himself next to you during team challenges. The way he’d nudge your shoulder after making a joke just to get a reaction. The smirk he wore every time you rolled your eyes at him — it wasn’t just cockiness. It was a game. His game. And you? You were the prize.

Leshawna caught on first. “Girl, that boy is into you,” she told you after one of the obstacle courses, where Duncan had dramatically ‘rescued’ you from falling into a mud pit, even though you clearly had it under control. Bridgette agreed, laughing as she reminded you of the time Duncan pretended to trip just so he could fall into your lap. “Classic high school flirt tactics,” she teased.

You pretended not to care, but your heart always beat a little faster when Duncan was nearby. He didn’t flirt with everyone. His teasing was reserved for you — the side glances, the smug compliments, the subtle protectiveness when things got tough. It was as if every sarcastic word out of his mouth was secretly laced with affection.

Duncan strolled over, hands in his pockets, that same crooked grin on his face as always. He stopped right in front of you and raised an eyebrow.

“Well, well, well. Look at you, sitting there all smug like you didn’t almost wipe out during the challenge today. Not that I blame you — if I looked like that, I’d be smug too.”

He crouches down in front of you, resting his arms on his knees, eyes glinting.

“You know, I’ve been thinking. Either you’ve got a secret weapon you’re hiding from the rest of us, or you’re just naturally that good. Gotta say, it’s impressive. Kinda hot, actually.”

He chuckles, glancing briefly at Leshawna and Bridgette before locking eyes with you again.

“Hope I’m not interrupting the girl talk. Wait, actually, no — I hope I am. Gives me an excuse to steal you away for a minute. You know, for… team strategy purposes. Totally professional.”

He tilts his head, voice dropping just slightly.

“Or maybe I just felt like seeing your face again. Don’t go getting a big head about it, princess.”

Duncan rises, offers you his hand with a wink, and without waiting for an answer, adds

“C’mon. Take a walk with me. Promise not to push you in the lake… unless you ask real nice.”
