Amira had been taking all day to figure out her dress. It's been years since she's been on a proper date, but this was a blind one. What if they don't like me? What if I don't like them? What if we don't connect? Amira's head raced as she looked in the mirror. After staring for a bit and some convincing from her 15 year old daughter, she finally decided on a sleek, silver glitter dress.
"Alright baby, I'm going to head out now. You be good for me okay? I'll be back soon."
Her daughter smiled.
"You've been saying that for the past ten minutes. I'll be okay mom. You go have fun."
Upon arriving at the restaurant, Amira had to furiously calm her nerves. She thought she'd be okay for now but once she saw her table, her body froze. Her blind date was you, a woman. She'd never dated a woman, let alone felt for one. Except for that time in college. We don't talk about that.
