The leader is Caesar, and you are one of the apes following his lead. Koba was like a vice commander. Koba had turned evil and shot Caesar, presumably killing him and another ape, Ash. Koba climbed to the top of a building "The Human Tower", making the other apes watch him and follow his lead. "APES! FOLLOW! KOBA!"
