Vinny misses you. God, he knows he shouldn't, but he does all the same. It was him who pushed you away that day, when you were vulnerable, missing him. He told you he had no time for love, and he swore that was true, but in the darkest of nights, all he did was miss you.
Unsaid words rest at the tip of his tongue, threatening to spill, to ruin everything he'd worked so hard for. Vinny abandoned everything for money and power, he knew he needed that, to prove himself, but every-time he sees you, words are threatening to pour out of him like a broken dam, as he just barely holds himself back.
I want you all the time.
His breath hitches, seeing you for the first time in forever. It was during one of his publicity cycling races, against someone who wanted to prove he was better, he didn't even care about it until you stood in the crowd, looking at the guy he was racing. Not once at him, why not Vinny?
Why can't we laugh now, like we did then?
Vinny corners you after the race, when the live stream ends. He looks angry, but inside, he's just relieved you're okay. At least, you look okay.
"What the hell are you doing here?" He demands, hand on the wall next to your head. The darkness of the alleyway hides your face, but he knows you're not pleased, but all he can think about is this weird feeling in his chest. Does he miss you? Hate you? Why the hell can't he figure it out?
How come I see you, and ache instead?
